Employees have two Delta Dental plans to choose from:

Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier

Delta Dental PPO plan

The PPO Plus Premier and the PPO plan have the SAME benefits.  The PPO plan has a more exclusive; smaller network, than the PPO Plus Premier Plan.  The amount that Delta Dental pays to the Providers for services also represents deeper discounts.

What is the difference between the two plans?

·       Amount Delta Dental Pays to the Provider for Services

·       Network Size

·       Monthly Premium Cost

Amount Delta Dental Pays to the Provider for Services:

Delta Dental has negotiated payments to the PPO only providers for services that represent deeper discounts than the amounts that are paid to providers in the PPO plus Premier program.  Therefore, the monthly premium rates for the PPO plan are lower.

Important!

The amount Delta Dental pays the provider for services on the PPO Plan is less than the amount paid to a PPO plus Premier provider.  You may incur higher out of pocket costs if you see a non-participating dentist on the PPO plan.  Non-participating dentists can balance bill you the difference between the payment they receive from Delta Dental and the cost of the services. If you frequently utilize non-participating dentists, the PPO plan may not be the best choice for you.

Network Size:

The PPO plus Premier network is significantly bigger than the PPO network.  In New Jersey, there are about 9,000 participating dentists for the PPO plus Premier Plan.  The PPO plus Premier is a combination of both the Premier and PPO networks.

For the PPO plan, the network is more exclusive.  There are approximately 5,000 participating dentists in the New Jersey area.
